Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends midweek flat

Benchmark index loses 4.55 points at Wednesday's closing session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 10,949.95 points, slightly down 0.04% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 10,960.22, fell 4.55 points from the close on Tuesday.

The lowest point for the index was 10,911.09, while the daily high was 11,026.52.

During the day, 43 indexes gained in value while 56 closed with losses.

The daily transaction volume reached 103.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.55 billion), while the overall value of the index was 10.15 trillion liras ($249.86 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 40.7555 as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 47.7785, and the British pound traded at 55.3335.

The price of an ounce of gold was $3,357.05, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $65.20.
