Türkiye's BIST 100 index ends week down

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index closed at 9,311.88 points on Friday, sharply down by 2.19%.

Starting the day at 9,166.80 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 208.34 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value was 9,065.17, while the daily high was 9,311.88.

The market value of the BIST 100 was around 8.45 trillion Turkish liras ($215.5 billion), with a trading volume of 103 billion Turkish liras ($2.61 billion).

Some nine stocks on the index rose and 91 dropped, compared to the previous close.

Gold was $3,424.18 per ounce, while Brent crude oil sold for $72.70 per barrel as of 6.50 pm local time (1550GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 39.3740, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate at 44.5450, while the British pound traded for 53.5820 Turkish liras.
