Türkiye's BIST 100 index hits another record high at weekly close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended the week on Friday at 13,838.29 points, up 0.05%, hitting another historic high.

After starting the day at 13,809.39 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 7.20 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index was 13,649.11, while the daily high was 13,876.78.

The market value of BIST 100 was around 13.7 trillion Turkish liras ($316 billion), with a trading volume of 244.1 billion liras ($5.61 billion).

A total of 44 stocks on the index rose and 53 dropped, compared to the previous close.

In January, the BIST 100 index reached new record highs on 18 of 21 trading days in total.

Gold was $5,042.50 per ounce, while Brent crude oil sold for $69.8 per barrel as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 43.4975, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate 51.7820, and the British pound traded for 59.7885 liras.
