Turkiye's Borsa Istanbul up at Monday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 2,175.03 points, up 1.43% from the previous close.

Starting the week at 2,160.42 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 30.77 points from Friday's close of 2,144.26 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 2,152.44 points, while its daily high was 2,176.33.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.76 trillion Turkish liras ($119.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 26.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

During the first transaction day of the week, 85 stocks on the index rose, 10 fell, and five were unchanged compared to the previous close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines and iron/steel producers Kardemir and Eregli.

Real investment trust Torunlar GMYO was the best performer, with its shares up 8.77%, while stocks of conglomerate Global Yatirim Holding saw the biggest drop of 1.65%.​​​​​​​

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,927.05 by market close, down from $1,938 at the previous close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $113.8 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
