CHISINAU, Moldova (AA) - The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) renovated the rehabilitation facility at Moldova’s only prosthetics center on Wednesday.

TIKA’s project at the Experimental Prosthetics, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation Center (CREPOR) included a full renovation of the facility along with new furniture and medical equipment.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Chisinau, Uygar Mustafa Sertel, said at the opening ceremony that Ankara is committed to supporting Moldova in various areas and highlighted the tangible results of TIKA’s projects.

Muhammed Unal, head of TIKA’s Balkans and Eastern Europe Department, noted that since 1994, nearly 500 projects have been completed in Moldova, including 50 in health care. The newly renovated 40-bed facility will help patients recover faster.

CREPOR Director Veronika Lebedinskiy was grateful for the renovation, which has modernized a section that had not been updated in 22 years.

She noted that the center also serves war veterans, providing them with better care.

CREPOR, which includes a factory supplying prosthetics to World War II victims, serves more than 55,000 veterans, including those from Afghanistan and Transnistria, and offers various medical services to the disabled.
