Türkiye's jobless rate stable at 8.6% in September

Number of unemployed aged 15 and over increases by 35,000 from month ago to 3.1M, official data shows

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's unemployment rate was stable at 8.6% in September, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Monday.

The number of jobless rose 35,000 from August to 3.1 million as of September, TurkStat data showed.

While the unemployment rate for men decreased by 0.3 percentage points month-on-month to 6.7%, it rose 0.7 points to 12.3% for women.

The labor force participation rate rose to 54.4% in September from 54.2% in August.

The employment rate slightly rose by 0.1 percentage points to 49.7%, meaning 32.8 million people.

Youth unemployment, defined as those aged 15-24, edged up by 0.3 percentage points to 17.1%. The rate was 13.5% for male and 24% for female.
