ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's prefabricated building company Karmod has begun installing a steel-frame housing project in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
The project, located in the city of Girne, consists of luxury villa-style homes.
Karmod Prefabricated General Manager Ugur Kadir said steel-frame structures were poised to become the most preferred housing model in the future.
“Beyond its role in ensuring building safety, steel offers significant advantages as an environmentally friendly material,” Kadir said.
“With its flexibility and long lifespan, steel plays a crucial role in structural security. Given today’s diminishing resources, steel’s fully recyclable nature makes it even more valuable,” he added.
Kadir also highlighted the speed of steel-frame construction, saying it can be built up to 70% faster than traditional methods.
“We manufacture our steel components using modern facilities equipped with advanced machinery, significantly reducing production time,” he said.
Karmod’s prefabricated structures can be installed on-site without additional fabrication thanks to their modular design, addressing housing needs in a short period, Kadir added.
The company’s TRNC project features single-story villas with a 2+1 layout, covering 103 square meters each, the statement said. The homes include glass facade systems in the living area and a parapet system on the roof.
