Türkiye's retail sales growth at 19-month high in December
Retail sales volume rises at faster pace in December, surging 21.8% from year ago

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's retail sales in December 2022 rose at the fastest pace since May 2021 on an annual basis, according to data released on Monday.
The figure followed a year-on-year hike of 11.8% in November 2022, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data showed.
Food, drinks and tobacco sales increased 12.9% from a year ago in December 2022 while non-food sales – excluding automotive fuel – surged 28%.
Automotive fuel sales soared 15.7% in the same period.
Among non-food items, computers, books, and telecommunication equipment enjoyed the largest hike of 45.5%.
On a monthly basis, Türkiye's retail sales grew 4.8% in December, after rising 1.2% in November.
Non-food sales – except automotive fuel – went up 5.5% month-on-month in December.
Sales of food, drinks and tobacco ticked up 1.9% in December compared to the previous month, while automotive fuel sales increased by 6.9%.
