Türkiye's stock exchange closes with fresh record

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended with gains on Wednesday, hitting another all-time high close of 3,171.21 points.

After starting the day at 3,182.13 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 6.25 points, or 0.2%, from Tuesday's close of 3,164.96 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 3,160.04 points, while its daily high was 3,198.99 points, with a daily trading volume of 72.7 billion Turkish liras ($4 billion).

An ounce of gold traded for $1,700 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Market.

The price of Brent crude oil rose marginally to $96.37 per barrel as of 6.12 p.m. local time (1612GMT).
