Unemployment rate rises by 9% in November, up 0.4 percentage points from October

ISTANBUL (AA) – The unemployment rate in Türkiye came in at 9% in November, up by 0.4 percentage points on a monthly basis, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.

The number of unemployed people – aged 15 years old and over – rose by 115,000 to 3.1 million month-on-month in November, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

In October, the unemployment rate hit the lowest level since November 2022 with 8.6%.

The unemployment rate was at 7.5% for men and 11.8% for women in November.

The number of employed people dropped by 236,000 to 31.6 million in November compared to the previous month.

The employment rate decreased by 0.4 percentage points to 48.2%, it added.
