ADEN, Yemen (AA) –Two high-ranking Yemeni ministers have resigned in the past two days without offering an explanation.
Minister of State Salah al-Sayadi announced his resignation Wednesday, a day after Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service and Insurance Abdulaziz al-Jabari said he was stepping down.
In a statement posted on his personal Facebook account, al-Sayadi said "I declare my definitive resignation from the government for reasons I will explain later".
An official source who wished to remain anonymous said Al-Jabari announced his resignation at a meeting in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh.
The meeting was attended by Yemeni Vice President Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar and Prime Minister Ahmed Obaid Bin Daghar, who tried to convince Al Jabari to change his mind, said the source.
Al-Jabari also announced his resignation on Yemeni television but said he would remain an advisor to President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.
