Typhoon Lan makes landfall in Japan south of Osaka
Around 650 people trapped in airport amid Typhoon Lan in Japan as major transport is canceled

ISTANBUL (AA) — Typhoon Lan made landfall in Japan on Tuesday as the Kii Peninsula south of Osaka was hit by heavy rainfall.
The severe weather conditions brought by the typhoon resulted in canceled air, road, and rail transportation services in the area.
Wakayama, the biggest prefecture in the Kii Peninsula, and other parts of western Japan such as Kyoto prefecture were heavily affected by the downpour.
Around 650 people were trapped in Kansai Airport in Osaka prefecture after road and rail services were canceled, Kyodo News reported.
Central Japan Railway Co. and West Japan Railway Co. canceled the bullet trains in Osaka prefecture. The two largest airline companies in Japan, Japan Airlines Co. and All Nippon Airways Co. also canceled over 560 flights that depart from or arrive at western Japan.
