UAE highlights humanitarian efforts in Ukraine amid ongoing conflict
Foreign Ministry says UAE allocated $105M to support various humanitarian initiatives in Ukraine

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has continued its humanitarian efforts to support Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict, according to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
A ministry's statement said that the country has successfully mediated seven exchanges between Russia and Ukraine, with the latest in August 2024 leading to the release of 230 captives. This brings the total number of captives released through UAE mediation to 1,788.
In addition to its diplomatic efforts, the UAE has provided significant financial and material aid to Ukraine. The UAE has allocated $105 million to support various humanitarian initiatives in Ukraine, underscoring its commitment to aiding those affected by the conflict.
The UAE's humanitarian aid has included the dispatch of 14 planes carrying relief supplies to Ukraine, as well as two ships delivering humanitarian aid to Romania. In total, the UAE has provided 1,015 tons of food and other relief supplies to Ukraine.
Furthermore, the country has supplied 4,520 electric generators to help Ukrainian communities cope with harsh winter and frequent power outages.
To support education in Ukraine, the UAE has sent 7,500 laptops and 10,000 school bags, ensuring that the educational needs of Ukrainian children are met during these challenging times. Additionally, the UAE has contributed 50 fully-equipped ambulances to bolster the health sector in Ukraine.
The UAE has also extended its humanitarian assistance beyond Ukraine, providing aid to Ukrainian refugees in Moldova, Poland, and Bulgaria. In coordination with the International Humanitarian City in Dubai, the UAE has dispatched 125 tons of food and medical relief using two airplanes supplied by international organizations based in the UAE.
These efforts highlight the UAE’s ongoing commitment to providing vital assistance to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine and ensuring that essential services continue to operate amid the crisis.
