UAE, South Korea seek to boost bilateral cooperation
South Korean president makes first state visit to UAE
ABU DHABI, UAE (AA) - United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with his South Korean counterpart Yoon Suk Yeol on Sunday to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.
They discussed aspects of cooperation in the fields of investment, economy, culture, advanced technology, renewable energy and other important areas, state news agency WAM reported.
A number of regional and international issues were also discussed during the talks between the two leaders.
Yoon had arrived in Abu Dhabi on Saturday evening. It is the first visit by a South Korean president to the UAE since 1980.
According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, Seoul and Abu Dhabi are expected to sign some 30 memorandums of understanding involving governments and the private sector, with energy, arms and investment among the key areas of cooperation.
The South Korean president will travel from the UAE to Zurich, Switzerland, on Tuesday to attend the Davos Economic Forum.
