ISTANBUL (AA) - Kyiv claimed on Wednesday that it struck an ammunition depot near the Russian city of Kursk, located about 112 kilometers (69.5 miles) from the Russia-Ukraine border.

“Last night, an attack was made on a warehouse for storing weapons and military equipment near the settlement of Kursk. The operation of enemy air defense systems and explosions at targeting points were recorded,” said a statement by Ukraine’s General Staff.

The statement said the strike was carried out by designated units from Ukraine’s navy, in cooperation with other components of the country’s defense forces.

“Detailed information about the result of the damage is being clarified,” the statement further said.

It added that Ukrainian soldiers will continue to take “all possible legal measures” to stop the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that it downed a drone and a Neptune-MD guided missile over the Kursk region, which borders Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region.

Meanwhile, acting Kursk Governor Alexer Smirnov said on Telegram that a fire had broken out at an unspecified facility in the region, which was later extinguished and resulted in no casualties.

A day earlier, Ukraine also claimed hitting an oil depot in the village of Vozy.
