Ukraine claims it shot down 24 Russian drones amid overnight attacks

2 people injured in Nikopol district, says Dnipropetrovsk governor

ISTANBUL (AA) - At least two people were injured in an overnight attack by Russia, with Ukraine claiming on Monday that the country’s air defenses downed 24 Russian drones.

Mykola Oleshchuk, the commander of Ukraine’s Air Force, claimed on Telegram that Russia launched drones overnight from the country’s Krasnodar and Kursk regions.

Oleshchuk went on to say that all of the 24 drones launched by Russia were downed over the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov said on Telegram that civilian infrastructure in the settlements of Vasyshcheve and Koviahy were hit by drone fragments.

Meanwhile, Natalya Zabolotna, the deputy head of Vinnytsia’s Regional Military Administration, was quoted as saying by the regional administration on Telegram that four drones were downed over the region.

Elsewhere, Dnipropetrovsk Governor Serhii Lysak wrote on Telegram that two people were injured in drone attacks in the region’s Nikopol district.

Local authorities in Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Sumy, and Poltava reported no casualties or damage in their respective regions.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on Ukraine’s claims.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
