ISTANBUL (AA) - At least two people were injured due to an overnight Russian drone attack in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv and western Khmelnytskyi regions, local authorities said on Monday.
Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov said on Telegram that a 56-year-old man was seriously injured as a result of the drone strike in the city of Kupiansk, a major front in Moscow's offensive in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the Kharkiv region.
In another drone attack, Khmelnytskyi Governor Serhii Tiurin said, one person was injured and equipment at an enterprise was damaged.
Ukraine’s Air Force claimed that air defenses shot down 47 of 72 drones launched overnight by Russia over Kharkiv and Khmelnytskyi, as well as the Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, and Odesa regions.
In Kyiv, Governor Ruslan Kravchenko said on Telegram that debris from downed drones damaged a power line in one of the region’s districts, but that power supply has since been restored.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on the attack.
