ISTANBUL (AA) - At least three people were killed and many others injured on Monday in a Russian missile strike in Ukraine’s central Poltava region, Kyiv said.
“Three people died as a result of a Russian attack on an oil well in Poltava Oblast. Another is considered missing,” Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Telegram. He added that five people, all of whom are employees, received injuries.
Earlier, Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, said the attack took place in the village of Hoholeve in Poltava’s Myrhorod district.
The oil well caught fire due to the explosion, he said, adding that those affected were people working in the night shift.
Poltava Governor Dmytro Lunin said a production workshop was completely destroyed due to the missile strike, and search and rescue operations were underway.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed its strikes hit a Ukrainian aviation weapons and ammunition depot, without specifying its location.
