ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, on Tuesday approved two bills to extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days, a lawmaker said.

Yaroslav Zheleznyak said on Telegram that the bills on extending martial law and mobilization received 335 and 323 votes in favor, respectively. The bills will come into effect on Feb. 13.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy first declared martial law and general mobilization on Feb. 24, 2022 when Russia launched a "special military operation" in Ukraine. The measure has been extended several times since then.

Zelenskyy submitted the draft bills to parliament on Monday, and will have to sign them into laws.
