Ukrainian premier thanks Germany for its support to Kyiv

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal meets German leaders, calls for more military support against Russia

BERLIN (AA) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Sunday thanked Germany for its support to Kyiv and called for increasing military support against Russia.

Shmyhal met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank Walter Steinmeier on Sunday to discuss the latest developments in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

“(We) discussed the military situation, strengthening sanctions and the need to provide weapons for Ukraine,” he wrote on Twitter following the meetings, and underlined that Kyiv is expecting further comprehensive support from Berlin.

Shmyhal noted that Germany is a “reliable” partner of Ukraine, and said they're defending democratic values while fighting against Russia.

“Thanked for solidarity with Ukrainians and support. We will win!” he stressed.
