Ukrainian president receives Saudi Arabian foreign minister

ANKARA (AA) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday received the Saudi Arabian foreign minister in Kyiv.

“We appreciate this visit and consider it as an important evidence of support for Ukraine, especially on the anniversary of the beginning of full-scale aggression,” Zelenskyy told Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, according to a statement from the Ukrainian presidency.

The foreign minister's visit marks the first high level visit from Saudi Arabia to Ukraine in more than 30 years.

“First of all, I want to thank you for supporting peace in Ukraine, our sovereignty and territorial integrity. This is very important for us and our people, our society,” said Zelenskyy.

The parties discussed “the importance of Saudi Arabia's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, in particular within the UN."

They also paid special attention to the "implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula,” the statement said.

Zelenskyy said that his country is continuing to make contribution to global food security despite the war.

“The parties exchanged views on the Saudi side's participation in Ukraine's post-war recovery, as well as its involvement in promising projects in the investment, agricultural and energy sectors,” the statement added.
