Unsubmissive France Party pushes for recognition of Palestinian state in parliament

Motion demands recognition at national level, insists France advocate for recognition of Palestine within UN framework

PARIS (AA) - The Unsubmissive France (LFI) Party is preparing to make a significant political move by presenting a motion in parliament that demands recognition of the Palestinian state.

LFI deputy group leader in parliament, Mathilde Panot, emphasized the urgency of the situation in Palestine during a news conference where she expressed deep concern about escalating tensions and precarious conditions in Palestine, indicating that LFI would introduce the motion Tuesday.

The motion not only demands recognition at the national level but insists France advocate for the recognition of Palestine within the UN framework.

To underscore the gravity of the situation, Panot disclosed that a meeting with a returning French medical delegation from Gaza is scheduled in parliament.

"After (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu asked all Palestinians to seek shelter from (Gaza's) south, 1.4 million Palestinians were trapped in Rafah," she said.

Panot pointed out that Rafah, which had previously been a "red line," was now being targeted by Netanyahu's attacks, and that all associations were warning that the attacks in Rafah would turn into a "bloodbath."

"After forcing an entire population to seek shelter in the south and then targeting people living in tents in the same place, I don't know what kind of message is being sent," said Panot.

She said such actions reveal "Israel's genocidal intentions."

Panot also voiced the party’s concerns about France's response to the situation and said: "France should speak out louder about imposing sanctions on this country to stop Netanyahu's massacres in Gaza."
