ISTANBUL (AA) - Polish Defense Minister Wladysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Thursday that up to 400,000 people are expected to take part in a new voluntary military training program next year.
The government announced in a news conference that the new military training program called Readiness would be launched this month, with the pilot version beginning on Nov. 22, according to broadcaster TVP World.
At this stage, participants will be able to sign up for courses in basic safety, survival, first aid and cybersecurity.
The full program, allowing citizens to learn how to respond in crisis situations, will begin as of next year.
“Over the last six months, we have been working very intensively ...on an extraordinary project—the largest program of universal, voluntary defense training in Polish history,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
