JERUSALEM (AA) – An Israeli was seriously injured on Thursday by a drone fired from Lebanon into northern Israel, according to Israeli media.
Israeli Channel 12 said an explosive-laden drone was launched from Lebanon into Kabri settlement in Western Galilee.
The attack triggered alarm sirens to sound in Western Galilee and other areas near the border with Lebanon, the broadcaster said.
The Israeli army said air defense systems intercepted a number of aerial objects fired from Lebanon into northern Israel.
Lebanese group Hezbollah confirmed that it had fired a volley of drones at Israeli military sites at Kabri settlement in northern Israel.
It said the attack targeted the newly established headquarters of the Israeli army’s 146th Division. The Lebanese group also attacked military installations in Al-Malikiyya and Hanita sites in northern Israel.
Fears have grown of a full-blown war between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah amid an exchange of cross-border attacks between the two sides.
The escalation comes against the backdrop of a deadly Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 38,300 people since last October following a Hamas attack.
