Paris police found no explosives despite a man’s threats to blow himself up in an Iranian diplomatic building, broadcaster Franceinfo reported on Friday.

Police earlier cordoned off the Iranian Consulate as the man, who seemed to be wearing a suicide bomber-type belt, threatened to set it off.

The suspect came out of the building by himself, and no explosives were found either on him or at the site, Paris prosecutors said, according to the same source.

Paris police confirmed that no explosives were found in his vehicle either.

Service on a nearby metro line was also restored after it was paused for security reasons.

The suspect, an Iranian born in 1963, had been convicted last fall after setting tires on fire in front of Paris’ Iranian Embassy to protest Tehran’s government, the prosecutors also said.

According to media outlets, the man was seeking revenge for his brother’s death, and filmed the scene to send the video to Iranian media. There were no casualties from the fire.
