FAA warns firms for communication issues

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major US air carriers, including Delta, United and American Airlines, were grounded on Friday morning after an alert from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The administration warned air traffic control to announce that carriers are in trouble related to communication issues, according to the news outlet Newsweek.

An IT outage on a global scale is disrupting many services in the world from health to aviation.

US airports Aspen, Boston Logan International, Harry Reid International, LaGuardia, Milwaukee Mitchell International, Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County and Henry E. Rohlsen are closed currently according to FAA.

American Airlines also stated that the technical issue it encountered earlier on Friday morning with a vendor has been solved, and flights have resumed.

"As of 5.00 am ET (09.00 GMT), we have been able to safely re-establish our operation," American Airlines wrote on X platform

Delta said it paused all flights, citing to a vendor technology issue, adding: "We apologize for the inconvenience as our teams work through this issue."

On the European side, many air carriers and airports also announced disruptions.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has also announced on the X platform that several of its platforms are impacted by the IT issues being experienced globally.

According to Spectator Index, Washington DC suspended all train services due to the IT outage.
