GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – At least 25 Palestinians were killed and several others injured in Israeli airstrikes on the northern and southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, medical sources said.
Israeli fighter jets hit a house next to Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia, leaving seven people dead and five others injured, a medical source said.
Another 13 people lost their lives and eight people were injured in another strike targeting a home in the same town, the source added.
Four Palestinians were injured when Israeli drones shelled the courtyard of Kamal Adwan Hospital, another medical source said.
Three people were also injured when an Israeli drone shelled the rooftop of the Indonesian Hospital in the same area.
In southern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike on Rafah killed two Palestinians, the source said.
Medics said that three more people were killed in an airstrike targeting a home in Shejaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.
Meanwhile, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Hussam Abu Safiya, appealed for increased protection for the hospital and its staff amid relentless Israeli attacks.
In a video statement, he called for urgent measures to ensure the safety of the medical facility.
“The Israeli army has targeted the hospital multiple times, leaving two people dead, including a child who had been previously injured, and wounding two others,” he added.
Israel launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, killing nearly 44,600 people, most of them women and children, and injuring over 105,700.
The second year of the genocide in Gaza has drawn growing international condemnation, with officials and institutions denouncing the attacks and blocking of aid deliveries as a deliberate attempt to destroy the population.
Last month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
