ISTANBUL (AA) – Three buses exploded in a parking lot and on a street in the Bat Yam district near Tel Aviv on Thursday evening, several Israeli media outlets reported.
No one was injured in the explosions, and the incidents are being investigated, daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported, citing police.
The daily said a third explosion was reported on Wolfson Street in the city after two at Bat Yam bus parking lots.
A police statement indicated that they are investigating the possibility that the explosions were caused by a "potential attack."
According to the statement, large police forces have been deployed at the explosion sites, conducting searches for suspects, while bomb disposal experts examine the scene to ensure no additional explosive devices or suspicious objects are present.
The police also released a photo from the scene but did not provide further details regarding the nature of the explosions or possible casualties.
Meanwhile, Israel’s public broadcaster reported that internal security agency Shin Bet and the police are assessing whether the incident was a coordinated attack.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, all light rail lines in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bat Yam were halted on Thursday evening following explosions around the city.
