An airport in eastern France reopened Friday after closing earlier for "safety reasons."
"The airport has reopened, and flight operations are gradually restarting. Passengers are requested to contact their airline for information about their flight," the EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, located at the French-Swiss border, wrote on X.
Earlier, the airport management announced that "For safety reasons, the terminal had to be evacuated and is currently closed," without providing more details.
France has been on alert since early Friday following “malicious acts” that targeted the railway network mostly in the northern and eastern regions of the country.
Rail location cabinets and cables were put on fire and cut, officials explained.
The railway traffic has been severely disrupted due to the attacks as Paris gears up to host the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony in the evening on the River Seine.
The football, archery, and rugby events began earlier this week before the ceremony.
