ISTANBUL (AA) – At least five people were killed and 13 others injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions, local officials said on Wednesday.

"Rescuers have just pulled out the body of a fifth victim from under the rubble. The search and rescue operation is ongoing," Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terehov said on Telegram.

Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov in a separate statement said the number of those injured increased to seven, six of whom were hospitalized.

Earlier, Serhii Bolvinov, the head of the regional police's investigative department, said there were casualties due to a missile attack on an eight-story building and a factory in the city of Kharkiv.

One of the missiles struck a factory in the city's Kholodnohirskyi district causing a fire, Bolvinov said. Ukraine's State Emergency Service said the fire engulfed an area of more than 2,000 square meters.

Separately, Dnipropetrovsk Governor Serhii Lysak said six people were injured in an overnight attack in the region's Synelnykove district, with five of them hospitalized.

Russia's war on Ukraine, which broke out in February 2022, has claimed the lives of at least 10,500 civilians and injured more than 19,800 others, according to the latest UN figures.
