UPDATE - Borsa Istanbul down at Monday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Monday down 0.07% at 1,329.90 points.

After starting the week at 1,329.58 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.97 points from 1,330.87 points at Friday's close.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,326.13 and 1,334.54 points -- 41 stocks on the index rose, 57 fell, compared to Friday.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 985 billion Turkish liras ($126 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 28.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.6 billion).

The highest trading volumes were posted by petrochemical company Petkim, state lender Industrial Development Bank (TSKB) and energy giant Tupras.

Polyester producer Sasa Polyester was the best performer, with its shares up 9.99%, while stocks of state lender Industrial Development Bank (TSKB) dropped the most, losing 6.22%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,832.50 by market close, down from $1,840.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $48.73 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Monday.
