UPDATE - Borsa Istanbul up over 2 pct at close
BIST 100 index gains nearly 1,900 points at close; Turkish lira gains in value against foreign currencies

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 2.1 percent to 91,629.55 points with a trading volume of around 9.3 billion Turkish liras (nearly $1.92 billion) in the closing session on Tuesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day with a 1,885.53-point increase from the Monday's close of 89,744.01 points, while it opened the day at 89,818.36 points, up 0.08 percent.
The benchmark index hovered between 89,767.93 points and 91,638.27 points, while 85 stocks on the index were on the rise, 10 on the decline, and five flat compared to the previous close.
The total market value of listed shares on the BIST 100 was 606.6 billion liras ($125.5 billion) at the close, while the banking and holding sector indices increased 1.50 percent and 0.69 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the transportation sector index saw the biggest increase, up 5.46 percent, while the food beverage sector index only saw a drop, losing 0.07 percent.
Stocks of carrier Pegasus Airlines climbed the most, up 10.86 percent, while shares of event organizer Flap Kongre Toplanti Hizmetleri suffered the worst, falling 5.75 percent.
The BIST 100's most-traded listed companies were private lender Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, defense company Aselsan, iron/steel producer Kardemir and state lender Halkbank.
The USD/TRY exchange rate dropped to 4.8140 as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) Tuesday, compared with 4.8390 at Monday's close.
The euro/lira exchange rate also fell to 5.6310 by market close, versus 5.6720 at the previous close, and one British pound traded for 6.3510 Turkish liras, compared with 6.4290 at Monday's close.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold traded for $1,241.70 as of 4.30 p.m. local time (1330GMT) Tuesday, compared with $1,244.00 at the previous close.
The price of Brent oil fell to $72.03 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Tuesday, from $72.784 on Monday's close.
Turkey's industrial production rose by 6.4 percent year-on-year in May, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Tuesday.
