ISTANBUL (AA) - Hezbollah announced Saturday that it targeted military bases and a military industries company in northern and central Israel with missiles.
The Lebanese group said fighters targeted the Glilot military base on the outskirts of Tel Aviv with a barrage of rockets.
The base is a key intelligence facility and home to the army’s Unit 8200, responsible for intelligence gathering within the military's intelligence division.
It also hosts a military intelligence school and is the headquarters of Israel’s Mossad spy agency.
Hezbollah later claimed to have targeted the same base with a "kamikaze drone."
It also announced that it conducted "an attack with a swarm of drones on the Palmachim airbase south of Tel Aviv," noting that the base "contains a military research center and radar for the Arrow defense system."
In northern Israel, the group reported targeting five other bases, including the Shiraga base north of Akko with a swarm of drones and the logistics base of Saint Jean of Akko with a large barrage of rockets.
Additionally, it targeted the Misgav base northeast of Haifa with a barrage of rockets, and the Ramath David airbase southeast of Haifa with a swarm of drones, “as well as the Zvulun military industries base north of Haifa" twice "with a barrage of rockets."
*Hezbollah noted that it targeted the headquarters of Alta Military Industries northeast of Haifa with “a barrage of rockets,” emphasizing that the attacks on the bases and the company "hit their targets accurately."
In northern Israel, the group announced that it targeted the city of Safed and six settlements -- Birya, Yesud HaMa'ala, Dalton, Sha'al, Bar Yochai and Kiryot -- with rocket barrages.
It said it bombarded three gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the city of Safed and the settlements of Bar Yochai and Malakiya.
In southern Lebanon, Hezbollah indicated that it fired rocket barrages at three gatherings of soldiers east of the town of Marun al-Ras, at the Jall al-Deir site opposite Marun al-Ras and in Al-Khazzan Hill, on the outskirts of the town of Houla.
Israel has escalated its air campaign in Lebanon since late September against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in an escalation from year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and the group since the start of Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Nearly 3,000 people have been killed and more than 13,300 injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023, according to Lebanese health authorities.
Israel expanded the conflict by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon on Oct. 1.
