LONDON (AA) - UK Foreign Minister David Cameron cautioned Israel on Friday that true security for the nation can only be achieved through ensuring the "long-term safety, security, and stability" of the Palestinian people.
Cameron, during a visit to Ramallah in the West Bank, engaged in discussions with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and other prominent Palestinian leaders.
In an interview with the BBC, Cameron addressed the issue of violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, labeling it as "completely unacceptable."
He urged Israel to take decisive action to curb such incidents and emphasized the importance of upholding human rights standards in the region.
"Reports of Palestinian civilians being killed by settlers across the West Bank are appalling. Israel must prevent these acts of violence and hold those responsible to account," the Foreign Office wrote on X.
It posted an image of Cameron, accompanied by Daniel Seidermann, an Israeli lawyer and peace campaigner, standing overlooking the West Bank.
"Looking over the West Bank, David Cameron heard about the impact of settlement expansion and settler violence," it said.
Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks in the Gaza Strip following a Hamas attack against Israel, killing more than 14,854 Palestinians, including 6,150 children and over 4,000 women, according to authorities in the enclave.
