LONDON (AA) - A man with a sword was arrested for injuring at least five people, including two officers, in east London, according to police on Tuesday.
A serious incident was declared early Tuesday after a sword-wielding man drove into a house in Hainault and stabbed several people.
Metropolitan Police said in a statement that two officers are among those injured after being attacked by the 36-year-old suspect, who is in custody.
"Working together with our emergency services partners, we treated five people and took all five to hospital," said London Ambulance Service.
Emergency services are at the scene, with Transport for London saying Hainault Underground Station is closed due to the incident.
"We do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the wider community. We are not looking for more suspects. This incident does not appear to be terror-related," Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said in the statement.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak thanked the emergency services for their response to the "shocking incident."
"Such violence has no place on our streets," he wrote on X.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan also praised police and emergency services for "showing the best" for London, "running towards danger" to protect others.
