MANBIJ/ISTANBUL (AA) - The Syrian army on Monday moved to take control of the Tishrin Dam southeast of Manbij, which has been occupied by the YPG/SDF terrorist organization.

According to an Anadolu team in Manbij, elements of the terror group have begun withdrawing from the dam area.

The Syrian army, positioned on the front line, also advanced toward the dam, with no clashes reported between the sides since morning.

According to the army’s Operations Command, Syrian army units also have started deploying across the Jazira region in northeastern Syria on Monday to secure the area under a ceasefire agreement and a deal to integrate the SDF group into the government, Alikhbariya TV reported.

The Syrian government launched a military operation last week, regaining areas in eastern and northeastern Syria following repeated violations by the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) of previous accords.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced Sunday a comprehensive ceasefire and integration agreement with the SDF, with all the group's military formations to withdraw east of the Euphrates River.
