UPDATE - Turkey's benchmark stock index ends day with rise
BIST 100 index surges 317.10 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.52

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Monday up 0.34 percent to close at 94,101.28 points.
After starting the week at 93,908.43 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 317.10 points from 93,784.18 points of Friday's close.
Peaking at 95,117.54 points, the BIST 100's daily low was 91,864.50 points during the day -- 57 stocks on the index rose, 37 fell, and six were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing Monday with a market value of nearly 623 billion Turkish liras ($111 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 8.25 billion Turkish liras ($1.47 billion).
By market capitalization, the leading companies of the BIST 100 were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lender Garanti Bankasi, and energy giant Tupras.
The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti Bankasi, Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron and steel producer Kardemir.
Stocks of Turkish sports club Fenerbahce (FENER) saw the highest increase -- up 14.40 percent -- as shares of real estate investment trust Ihlas Gayrimenkul (IHLGM) did the worst with 5.75 percent drop.
One ounce of gold was sold for $1,295.05 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus previous close of $1,298.40.
A barrel of Brent oil was sold for $68.54 as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Monday -- with a day range of $67.85 to $68.73.
At the beginning of 2019, the price of Brent oil was around $53 per barrel.
