UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul closes Tuesday with new record

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended higher on Tuesday at a new record closing of 2,157.74 points.
Starting the day at 2,132.96 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 56.23 points, or 2.68%, from the previous close of 2,101.51 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 2,124.06 points, while its daily high was 2,157.74 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.72 trillion Turkish liras ($120.9 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of approximately 54.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.8 billion).
While 72 stocks on the index rose during the day, 25 fell, and three remained unchanged compared to Monday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti, petrochemical firm Petkim, and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.
Shares of conglomerate Tekfen Holding performed the best with its shares up 9.99%, while software company Ard Informatics saw the sharpest drop, with 3.06%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,782.80 by market close, slightly down from $1,783.95 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was down 1.6% to $74.21 per barrel as of 6.16 p.m. local time (1516GMT).
