BIST 100 loses more than 740 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 106,785.08 points on Wednesday, down 0.69% from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 107,340.46 points. As of the daily close, it lost 743.6 points from Tuesday's close of 107,528.68 points.
During Wednesday's trading, the index hovered between 106,653.90 points and 108,142.20 points, which was the highest point since April 2018.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 725.2 billion Turkish liras ($126.88 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 9.9 billion Turkish liras (some $1.74 billion).
On the third transaction day of the week, 27 stocks on the index rose, 63 were down, and 10 were flat compared to Tuesday.
The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, defense giant Aselsan, and Garanti.
Automotive producer Karsan was the best performer on Wednesday, with its shares up 3.62%, while stocks of conglomerate Metro Holding dropped the most, down 10.96%.
The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,477.60 by market close, up from $1,469.15 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $61.50 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
