UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul ends Monday with gains
BIST 100 index surges 1,462 points from last week's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.86

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Monday up 1.61% to close at 92,249.80 points.
After starting the first business day of the week at 90,475.52 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1,462.79 points from 90,787.01 points at Friday's close.
During Monday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 90,392.10 points and 92,565.50 points -- 80 stocks on the index rose, 13 fell, and seven were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of nearly 612.5 billion Turkish liras ($104 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 5.9 billion Turkish liras ($1 billion).
Shares of Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and another private lender Akbank posted the highest trading volumes on Monday.
Stocks of major appliance producer Vestel were the top gainers -- up 9.06% -- as shares of energy and construction company Isiklar Enerji Yapi Holding did the worst, with a 2.78% drop.
One ounce of gold was sold for $1,336.60 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,352.50 at last week's close.
The price of Brent oil was $61.98 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Monday -- with a daily range of $61.13 to $62.37.
At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $53.
