UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 0.83% at close
BIST 100 gains over 800 points compared to Wednesday's close; while Turkish lira rises against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index surged by 0.83% to close Thursday at 99,406.44 points.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 99,428.00 points. As of daily close, it gained 821.15 points from Wednesday's close of 98,585.29 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 98,932.53 and 99,726.46 points during Thursday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 662.4 billion Turkish liras ($115.4 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 6.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion).
On the fourth transaction day of the week, 62 stocks on the index rose, 28 were down, and 10 were flat compared to the previous close.
The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.
The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and state lender Vakifbank.
Shares of private equity firm Gozde Girisim increased most, up 9.92%, while stocks of energy and construction company Isiklar Enerji Yapi Holding saw the biggest drop, falling 2.78%.
The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,418.40 by market close, up from $1,407.60 at the previous close, according to Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets data.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $66.95 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Thursday.
