UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at close
BIST 100 index rises nearly 580 points, while Turkish lira gains in value against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.64% to close Friday at 90,589.73 points.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 89,824.79 points, up 578.11 points from Thursday's close of 90,011.62 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 88,975.13 and 90,589.73 points during Friday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 600 billion Turkish liras ($101.3 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 5.4 billion Turkish liras ($913 million).
On the last transaction day of the week, 65 stocks on the index posted rises, 26 were down, and nine were flat compared to the previous close.
The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lender Garanti, and oil refinery giant Tupras.
The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and state lender Halkbank.
Systems integration provider Netas Telekomunikasyon A.S. was the top gainer, with its shares up 11.24%, while shares of prominent sports club Galatasaray A.S. fell the most, down 6%.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,297.30 by market close, up from $1,281.00 the previous day.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $63.40 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Friday.
