BIST 100 gains over 700 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 101,922.15 points on Wednesday, up 0.70% from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 101,597.7 points. As of today's close, it had gained 709.24 points from Tuesday's close of 101,212.91 points.
During Wednesday's trading, the index's deepest level was 101,352.81 points and the highest one was 102,187.91 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 677.5 billion Turkish liras ($117.7 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).
On the midweek close, 62 stocks on the index rose, 26 were down, and 12 were flat compared to Tuesday.
The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti, and defense giant Aselsan.
Conglomerate Metro Holding was the best performer on Wednesday, with its shares up 11.76%, while stocks of casting producer Cemas dropped most, down 4.85%.
According to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,492.70 by market close, down from $1,493.50 at the previous close.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $62.40 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
