UPDATE - Turkish stocks hit new all-time high at Thursday close

UPDATES WITH MORE DAILY FIGURES, CHANGES HEADLINE

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index saw a new all-time high on Thursday, increasing by 1.12% to close at 1,522.24 points.

Starting the day at 1,515.04 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 16.82 points over the midweek's close of 1.505,42 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,505.70 and 1,522.70 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.13 trillion Turkish liras ($153.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 34 billion Turkish liras ($4.62 billion).

On the fourth transaction day of the week, 60 stocks on the index rose, 35 fell, and five were unchanged compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by real estate investment trust Emlak Konut, private lender Garanti and chemical fertilizer producer Gubre Fabrikalari.

Defense industry company Otokar was the best performer, with its shares up 9.98%, while stocks of food company Tat Gida dropped the most, losing 6.81%.

One ounce of gold sold for $1,911.10 by market close, down from $1,955.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $54.3 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Thursday.
