UPDATE - Turkish stocks rise 0.59% at midweek close
BIST 100 index gains 6.48 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at roughly 7.6980

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Wednesday up 0.59% to close at 1,102.65 points.
After starting at 1,101.72 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 6.48 points from 1,096.16 points at Tuesday's close.
On Wednesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,098.82 and 1,106.06 points -- 92 stocks on the index rose, eight fell, and the remaining were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of some 817 billion Turkish liras ($107 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 15.5 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by iron/steel producer Kardemir, glass manufacturer Sise and petrochemical firm Petkim.
Stocks of cement producer Bursa Cimento performed best, up 10%, while Halk GMYO, a real estate investment trust operating under state lender Halkbank, dropped the most, losing 1.66%.
One ounce of gold sold for $1,884.30 by market close, down from $1,906.00, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent oil was $42.22 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
