BIST 100 earns over 1,000 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 111,815.08 points on Thursday, up 0.93% from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 112,504.56 points with a sharp rise. As of daily close, it earned 1,029.7 points from the midweek's close of 110,785.38 points.
During the day, it hovered between 111,403.44 points and 113,106.57 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 778.2 billion Turkish liras ($127.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 8.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).
On the fourth transaction day of the week, 52 stocks on the index rose, 42 were down, and six were flat compared to Wednesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, defense giant Aselsan, and private lender Garanti.
Energy company Aksa was the best performer, with its shares up 8.95%, while air carrier Pegasus dropped the most, losing 3.29%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,638 by market close, down from $1,645.30 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $50.80 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Thursday.
