UPDATE - Turkiye's Borsa Istanbul down at Thursday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index ended Thursday at 2,014.21 points, down 1.36% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,056.21 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 27.87 points from Wednesday's close of 2,042.08 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,984.43 points, while its daily high was 2,065.84.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.6 trillion Turkish liras ($118.77 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 47.77 billion liras ($3.55 billion).

During the fourth transaction day of the week, 23 stocks on the index rose, 76 fell, and one remained unchanged compared to Wednesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron/steel producer Kardemir, and private lender Garanti BBVA.

Conglomerate Alarko Holding was the best performer, with its shares up 6.32%, while stocks of industrial yard producer KordSA saw the sharpest drop, 3.9%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,835 by market close, up from $1,810 at the previous close.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $88.50 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
