UPDATE - Turkiye's Borsa Istanbul flat at Thursday close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index ended flat on Thursday at 2,042.01 points, down 0.03% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,054.59 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.69 points from Wednesday's close of 2,042.70 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 2,026.98 points, while its daily high was 2,068.27.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.65 trillion Turkish liras ($113 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 38.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.6 billion).

During the fourth transaction day of the week, 30 stocks on the index rose, 63 fell, and seven remained unchanged compared to Wednesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by iron and steel producer Kardemir and Eregli, in addition to national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Kardemir was the best performer of the day with its shares up 7.26%, while conglomerate Net Holding saw the biggest drop, 6.81%.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,992 per ounce at 1525GMT, up 0.05% for the day.

Brent crude oil price was around $112.70 for a daily gain of 1.4% at the time.
