UPDATE - Turkiye's Borsa Istanbul up 0.16% at Wednesday close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index ended Wednesday at 2,041.43 points, up 0.16% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,049.91 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 3.27 points from Tuesday's close of 2,038.16 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 2,036.25 points, while its daily high was 2,057.88.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.6 trillion Turkish liras ($120 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 24.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

During the third transaction day of the week, 47 stocks on the index rose, 45 fell, while eight remained unchanged compared to Tuesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron/steel producer Kardemir, and defense company Aselsan.

Stocks of renewable energy company Aydem was the best performer with its shares up 8.17%, while stocks of Selcuk Ecza Deposu Ticaret ve Sanayi AS saw the biggest drop, 3.47%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,858 by market close, up from $1,854.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $95.59 per barrel for a 2.5% daily gain as of 6.43 p.m. local time (1543GMT).
