Deal covers modifications, spare parts, software and contractor engineering to bolster Poland’s F-35 fleet, says Defense Security Cooperation Agency

WASHINGTON (AA) - The US State Department has approved the potential sale of sustainment and logistics support for F-35 fighter jets to Poland, with an estimated value of $1.85 billion, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced Tuesday.

In a statement, the DSCA said it had delivered the required certification notifying Congress of the possible deal, which includes equipment and services to support the Polish Air Force’s F-35 fleet. The package covers major and minor modifications, spare parts, software, technical documentation and contractor engineering.

The statement said the proposed sale would strengthen the security of a NATO ally and enhance Poland’s ability to address current and future threats, while noting it would not alter the regional military balance.

"There will be no adverse impact on US defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale," it said.
